WHAT ARE CERAMIC COATINGS?
Ceramic coatings can be used for
any part that is subject to friction, heat ,
corrosion or abrasion. Headers, brackets, and
suspension and most metals can be coated. Not
only will your parts look good they will also
perform better.
The coatings not only offer more
performance but also increases gas milage The
coatings can be applied to either reflect the
heat or disperse the heat. You can make more
efficient use of the burn process and save fuel.
Coatings have been used in racing for decades
to get that added edge over the competition.
Car builders use it for restorations
because of it's chrome like appearance and rust
resistance. It won't crack or peel like chrome
and it very durable. There is a cast iron coating
for stock exhaust manifolds that makes them
look like new manifolds all the time. They won't
rust after they are coated.
New coatings come in, black, white,
stainless, blue and red. From airplanes boats
to trucks there are many different uses. We
will be adding do it yourself articles that
will show you how to apply the coatings and
the types that are available.
The coatings not only increase
performance and reduce the heat under the hood
but they look good and have amazing properties.
A coated header can be cool to the touch minutes
after you shut off the engine. Thermal barrier
coatings for the inside of headers keep the
heat in the exhaust to gain even more horsepower.

Thermal barrier coatings, Thermal Dispersants,
Corrosion & Chemical Resistant coatings.
Coatings are available in different colors and
textures. They can withstand very high temperatures
over 1000 degrees and can disperse heat many
times faster than bare metal.
Car show enthusiasts have
used
these coatings for coating aluminum wheels for
the chrome like appearance. After spraying you
can sand with 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper 1200
grit sandpaper, and then buff to a bright shine.
Then polish with CERMGLOW.
The coating also allows easy cleaning of brake
dust buildup.
Race teams have found many uses
for the coatings. Ceramic coatings can be used
for the tops of pistons and as dry film lubricants
for piston skirts. This reduces the drag and
allows for greater performance. Valve guides
valve stems, cylinder heads, combustion chambers,
and most engine parts can be coated. The coating
bonds to 40 microns.
Coating the combustion chamber
surfaces will allow you to run less initial
timing, less fuel, with more efficient oxidation.
You should be able to run smaller jet sizes
to. When you add all these increases together
you will gain noticeable torque and H.P.
The best part about these coatings is the anti
corrosion properties they have. Your exhaust
system will last longer and can provide virtual
lifetime protection against rust. If you have
a boat the protection it offers against salt
water is excellent.
