DETROIT (April 24, 2007) - Chevrolet and Automotive
Marketing Consultants (AMCI) today released official
information for "Rev It Up 2007: Where Drivers
Come To Play" (www.revitup.com) - a full
day of competition and fun geared towards the
true automotive enthusiast. The entry fee for
competitors is just $25, and there is no admission
charge for friends and spectators at the six-city
celebration of car culture.
Rev It Up 2007 is a true playground for car lovers.
It is the "World's Largest Performance Driving
School and National Racing Competition,"
in which experienced racers and amateurs alike
compete for the title of "Rev It Up National
Champion" and a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette.
Additionally, six regional winners will receive
two days of instruction at the Bondurant School
of High Performance Driving.
Rev It Up 2007 gives car enthusiasts - spectators
and competitors - a chance to immerse themselves
in all things automotive, including taking a ride
in a 505-horsepower Corvette Z06 for a "Time
Attack" run, testing reaction time and car
control in an acceleration and braking contest,
racing friends in an Enduro Kart competition,
driving the 2007 Corvette and the rest of Chevrolet's
performance lineup on a custom-designed course,
checking out the cars in the tuner/car display
area, and experiencing the hottest music and latest
automotive technology at the Chevy Pavilion -
including an up close look at the dramatic Camaro
Concept.
Rev It Up 2007 will tour six major metropolitan
areas in July and August - San Francisco, Orange
County (CA), Houston, Orlando, New York and Washington
D.C. (see below schedule for exact dates). The
entry fee for the national competition - with
a new Corvette awarded to the national champion
- will be just $25. Other "behind the wheel"
activities, including Enduro Kart racing, will
be offered at a minimal cost. Space is limited,
so pre-registration is strongly suggested.
"Where else but Rev It Up can you spend the
day racing, driving and experiencing the best
that Chevy has to offer?" said Ed Peper,
Chevrolet Marketing General Manager. "It's
a great combination of competition and car show,
where automotive enthusiasts can hone their skills
and test their precision and control in our performance
vehicles at an incredible enthusiast's day camp."

Rev It Up: Behind the Wheel
Rev It Up Competition - More intense for 2007,
competitors of all skill levels will learn advanced
driving techniques in the classroom and on the
track from AMCI professional race drivers/ instructors
and compete for prizes. Rev It Up 2007 competitors
in four skill level-based classes will drive identically
prepared Chevrolet Cobalt SS models and try to
qualify for the final run of each day - the Pro
Class Heat - behind the wheel of a 2007 Corvette.
The fastest competitor out of the six regional
pro heat winners will claim the ultimate title
of "Rev It Up 2007 National Champion"
- and receive a new 2007 Chevrolet Corvette. All
six regional winners will receive two days of
instruction for two people at the Bondurant School
of High Performance Driving, including airfare.
Corvette Performance Course - Everyone attending
Rev It Up 2007 (both competitors and spectators)
can experience the thrill of putting Chevrolet's
400-horsepower flagship sports car, the 2007 Corvette,
through its paces on a specially designed course.
Reaction and Traction Competition - New for 2007,
this is a true test of the driver's acceleration
and braking skills behind the wheel of a 303-horsepower
Impala SS or 395-horsepower TrailBlazer SS. Without
breaking traction, drivers will have to accelerate
quickly and stop just as fast. Drivers will be
able to take on their friends, and prizes will
be given to those who prove their skills.
Enduro Kart Challenge - Professional drivers around
the world, competing in every type of motor competition
from NASCAR to Formula One to sports car racing,
have gotten their start in karts. Not the type
found in the local amusement park, these karts
are serious racing machines. Participants will
have the opportunity to race karts against their
friends while experiencing fast turns and high
g-forces.
Chevy Performance Course - Drivers can put a variety
of the latest Chevy performance vehicles through
their paces on a challenging route, including
Corvette, Impala SS, Cobalt SS Supercharged and
TrailBlazer SS.
Additional Car Control Clinics - From behind the
wheel, participants learn the finer points of
vehicle dynamics and car control from experienced
pros.
Rev It Up: Z06 Co-Pilot Experience
Corvette Z06 Car "Time Attack" - All
new for 2007 is Time Attack, the challenge of
setting the outright fastest lap on a given course,
a popular challenge for both vehicle and driver.
In this activity, participants ride in the passenger
seat of a 505-horsepower Corvette Z06 piloted
by an experienced racer, demonstrating how to
attack a course to set the best possible time.
Rev It Up: Beyond the Wheel
In 2007 Rev It Up also introduces a full array
of brand new non-driving experiences, providing
automotive fun for competitors taking a break
from driving instruction or competitions, and
plenty to do for those whose focus isn't on the
track but on the car culture lifestyle.
A sample of the activities and experiences:
Chevy Nation Pavilion - New for 2007 is a comprehensive
display of the latest cars, trucks and performance
parts, as well as a sneak peak into future technology
and products - including the Camaro Concept. The
Chevy Nation Pavilion will provide a place for
participants to experience Chevy up close.
Chevy Racing Experience - Also new for 2007 is
a Chevrolet display of motorsports heritage and
technology with a showcase of its latest racing
machines and well-known display vehicles, including
those from SEMA.
Car Corrals - Another new feature for Rev It Up
is special parking and display areas for local
clubs, magazines and enthusiasts to display their
personal vehicles and win prizes.
Rev It Up Partner Paddock - Rev It Up participants
can shop for apparel, racing gear, and browse
performance parts and accessories.
Opportunities to Meet Pro Drivers - Participants
will be able to chat with and get autographs from
popular NASCAR, ALMS and SCCA Chevy Racing drivers.
"Overall, Rev It Up is a celebration of the
U.S. car culture and the ultimate destination
for the true enthusiast," said Peper. "Chevy
is proud to be part of this revolutionary automotive
experience."
